I recently purchased rocket league on steam and have been experimenting with different ways to control the vehicle. So far my best set up has been to toggle the accelerator and reverse controls which works fine for me at the moment. My issue comes in with steering. I get okay control for my left and right turns. However, turning my head left and right to turn the vehicle works seems like it instantly make the vehicle turn to its maximum. I was unable to figure out how to get the joystick control to work with this game and I would like to be able to make the turn angle more gradual, maybe more based on how far I have turned my head. If anyone is using these programs to play this game can tell me if I have missed something in kinesic mouse or within the settings of the game. I would appreciate it. If not, is there any way I would be able to make these adjustments within kinesic mouse?

Hey there,

I understand your issue. Gradual control for steering is quite essential in racing games. I just purchased Rocket League and did some research on how to get the joystick controls working. The issue is as expected, the game just supports XBox controllers but no generic joystick.

Luckily there is an app that does the translation between these two controllers. It is called x360ce and can be downloaded here. Use the 32bit version, as Rocket League is a 32bit application.

The steps:
  • copy the downloaded x360ce.exe to the Rocket League folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\rocketleague\Binaries\Win32)
  • start the x360ce.exe and wait for 10 - 15 seconds
  • a dialog will appear "New Device Detected - VJoy Virtual Joystick", just click "Next" button and then "Finish" button.
  • the same dialog will appear again, repeat as step above
  • Another dialog should be already open that is titled "TocaEdit X360 Controller Emulator ... - Warnings". Here it is important to click the "Create" button under the column "Fix". Ignore the following exception.
  • quit the application and restart the x360ce.exe
  • I just did some minimal mappings (see screenshot), hit Save
  • Start Rocket League and you should now have at least steering and A, B buttons
  • I changed the Rocket League settings so that Accelerate and Backwards is set to the Left Stick Up and Down.

Hints:
- If you change the mappings, you need to restart Rocket League in order to take effect
- Once configured you do not need to run the x360ce.exe any more, the mappings will be stored in a dll

kk, I will make one, I just want to finish a new acceleration feature for joystick mode, than I will make a video tutorial.

I just wanted to say - sorry I couldn't make that tutorial for you Marcus. I've already figured the problem out for myself, but I've been struggling with vocal cord strain for several months now and couldn't speak much. Lost my live streaming business, too.

So - analog control simulation CAN be done quite well in x360ce for Rocket League. I'm just a gamer, not a programmer and I managed to figure it out from online x360ce tutorials in 3 hours so its totally doable.

Should assist as I was able to get both GTA five and dishonoured to work with it.

I found that kinesic mouse wasn't responding quickly enough to make turns unless I made it high priority in task manager but then grand theft auto five was running quite jerky when kinesic was high priority. I do have a fairly modern processor (I5 3570K) but maybe kinesic and GTA are just too much for it.

I was able to play while driving slowly when kinesic was high priority. The jerkiness of the game was annoying though.

When I tried to go as fast as you normally would in game I crashed all over the place in seconds :-|. Honestly, GTA five driving may be something that I am unable to do with kinesic.

Let us know if you get it working and how well it works in whichever games you use it.

I'm assuming either x360ce doesn't work with Iris or I'm doing something wrong.

I'm trying to get better steering on The Crew Wild Run, which is currently a free download on Uplay. I've tried setting up interactors with the arrow keys and also various configurations with Alt-Controller but can't get a good set up. I just end up swerving out of control and crash into every possible object. And the in game settings don't seem to do a darn thing.

Can interactors be mapped to joystick x y axis in someway? Actually I just need x axis for steering, gas and break I have worked out. Ideally I would like to steer by just moving the mouse left and right. Anybody know of a way to do that?

Did you ever get a tutorial put together for x360ce Marcus?
