Tobii say no way to load old firmware...

Rolling back to earlier drivers fixes this 95% for me.

Anyone else? Completely or mostly fixed with older drivers? or?

I just did some testing comparing with the older versions of the tobii eyeX installer.

Strange thing is I already was at 1.6.0 and now the newest driver that is downloadable from tobii website is 1.5.3. So I don't know if they rolled back themselves? Tobii replied to my request that there was no change in the tracking what so ever.

Comparing the 1.5.3 to 1.5.0 and 1.2.0 does not show much of a difference in the tracking quality. I also notice that the device firmware just updated again to 1.8.2.

That's interesting because I have a huge difference between Tobii.EyeX_1.5.3.140.exe and Tobii.EyeX_1.5.0.75.exe.

Tobii.EyeX_1.5.0.75.exe fixes the problem by around 95%.

No matter how many times I install Tobii.EyeX_1.5.3.140.exe it immediately causes a problem on the top middle and top right half of the screen.

Going to their website I am able to get 1.5.4 drivers as well which also cause the problem.

1.5.0.75 is the earliest I have. If you have the earlier drivers can you upload them somewhere so I can download and test? Just wondering if it may fix the problem to 100% instead of 95%... Thanks.

Also of note is: I have discovered that different glasses work better or worse. Even though they are all the same prescription.

I have three pairs of glasses but really only wear one. Tried the others to see what would happen and even without kinesic mouse two pairs of my glasses cause very poor tracking. Just thought I'd mention that as a side note in case it comes up in the future.

The lovely fellows over at Tobii have come up with a way to roll back the firmware.

I can confirm that it does work however, it didn't change my issue from 95% fixed to 100% fixed.

I have just noticed though that the lower my monitor is the better the tracking is. Of course having a monitor at a lower than comfortable height can also cause issues.

I've lowered my monitor the maximum but it also has tilt back which has fixed the comfort levels somewhat. Not sure if I had my monitor configured this way previously and that's why I didn't have the small issues b4. (Namely losing tracking when looking at the top middle of the screen when the Kinect is also tracking).

Note that it still does lose tracking but I can look at the top of the monitor without losing tracking now as the monitor is lower than it was. I now have to look about 4 cm above the monitor before it loses tracking.

EDIT: Just tried raising the Kinect up higher and it also fixes the issue without needing to lower the monitor. Mine was located about 30 cm behind the monitor and about 30 cm higher than the monitor. Now it is about 45 cm higher than the monitor. Can't really go much higher than that otherwise kinesic has problems recognising the face from that angle. Now I can look 15 cm above the monitor before it loses tracking. So FYI try to keep your Kinect high if possible. I haven't tried moving it further away as I have a wall behind my computer and cannot go any further back and as it seems to be working perfectly at this new height I have no need to. Good luck to anyone who is experiencing this problem hopefully this will help.

FYI the steps for rolling back are:

1. disconnect the Tobii EyeX
2. uninstall all EyeX software
3. install the older version
4. stop the Tobii service -> task manager -> services
5. connect the Tobii EyeX
6. open CMD and navigate to without the quotes ”c:\program files x86\tobii\service\”
7. run by typing it without the quotes ”fw_dl_util.exe -b”
8. start the service

Hello,

So where can i download a older version for the Tobii Eyex ?
i can only find the Tobii EyeX Installer Bundle 1.5.5 which cause the problems some how.
I just bought the kinect so i can use it in combination with Iris but so far i am running out of trail time and have yet to test anything :(

Thanks

Hi,
at first, I want to say you provide great software.
I just bought Iris, and I also tested KinesicMouse with Kinect for Xbox one.
I experienced the same problem when trying to combine the two devices, as described above.
I wanted to ask if there is any update on this problem.
I would very much like to combine the two devices/software solutions, because I am trying to reduce the workload on my hands during PC work.
I think the combination could be an almost perfect solution.
However, as mentioned before, the eye tracker (Tobii eyeX) becomes unusable, activating the Kinect camera.

Thanks,
Chris
