IRIS v1.6 is now available

Post by Xcessity »

Hi,

I just uploaded the new IRIS release. After reading through a lot of papers my stabilization filter for gaze data is now completed. You find the new settings in the "Advanced" tab.

The new options are:
Use smoothing filter
If you enable the ckeckbox the filter will be applied to the gaze data stream. This data is used to determine if an interactor is active and for the positioning of the mouse cursor. If the checkbox is not checked, the data stream is remains unchanged.

Steadiness
If you increase this slider the cursor will stabilize. The more you stabilize the cursor the less it will be reactive when your gaze point remains in small areas.

Saccade detection threshold
This slider defines the area at which the gaze pointer will remain steady. If the gaze point leaves this area it will "jump" immediately to the new position. So the smaller you choose this area the more your cursor will jump around. If you enlarge this area it will be steady, yet it won't be very reactive when you look at regions that are very close on screen.
This setting also depends on the screen resolution and DPI. If you have a big screen or high DPI display you need to increase this slider.

Best,
Markus
